7 Healthy Dal(lentil) based Lunch/Dinner ( for 8 – 18 months baby ) – Healthy lunch/dinner ideas for 8-18 months baby

How much to feed:
Offer around 1/4 cup = for 8 months baby
Offer around 1/2 cup = for 9-12 months baby
Offer around 3/4 cup = for 12 – 15 months baby
Offer around 1 cup = for 15 – 18 months baby

RECIPE #1 – Dal, Carrot & Beetroot

Ingredients: ( for #1 – Dal, carrot & beetroot )
1 tbsp – moong dal (indian split-yellow lentil)
2 tsp – masoor dal ( red lentil )
1/4 cup – carrot ( peeled & chopped or grated )
1/4 cup – beetroot ( peeled & chopped or grated )
1/2 cup – water ( do not add more, it will be soupy)

RECIPE #2 – Dal & Spinach

Ingredients: ( for #2 – Dal & spinach )
1 tbsp – moong dal (indian split-yellow lentil)
2 tsp – brown lentil ( or masoor dal – red lentil )
1/4 cup – carrot ( peeled & chopped or grated )
1/2 cup – spinach / palak (chopped )
pinch – turmeric
1/2 cup – water ( do not add more, it will be soupy)

RECIPE #3 – Dal & Chicken soup

Ingredients: ( for #3 – Dal & chicken soup)
1 tbsp – moong dal (indian split-yellow lentil)
2 tsp – brown lentil ( or masoor dal – red lentil )
1/4 cup or 50 gms – chicken ( boneless, chopped )
1/4 cup – tomato (chopped )
pinch – turmeric powder
pinch – pepper
1/4 tsp – coriander powder
1/4 tsp – oil
1/2 cup – water ( do not add more, it will be soupy)

RECIPE #4 – Dal & Fish

Ingredients: ( for #4 – Dal & fish )
1 tbsp – moong dal (indian split-yellow lentil)
2 tsp – masoor dal ( red lentil )
1/4 cup or 50 gms – fish ( boneless, chopped )
1/4 cup – carrot or sweet potato (grated )
pinch – turmeric powder
pinch – pepper
1/4 tsp – fennel powder
1/4 tsp – oil
1/2 cup – water ( do not add more, it will be soupy)

RECIPE #5 – Dal & Broccoli

Ingredients: ( for #5 – Dal & broccoli )
1 tbsp – moong dal (indian split-yellow lentil)
2 tsp – green lentil ( or red lentil )
1/4 cup – broccoli ( finely chopped )
1/4 cup – pumpkin ( peeled & chopped or grated )
1 tbsp – green beans ( finely chopped or grated )
1/2 cup – water ( do not add more, it will be soupy

RECIPE #6 – Dal & meat puree

Ingredients: ( for #6 – Dal & meat puree )
1 tbsp – moong dal (indian split-yellow lentil)
2 tsp – masoor dal ( red lentil ) or green lentil
1/4 cup or 50 gms – meat mince ( mutton keema )
1/4 cup – tomato (chopped)
pinch – turmeric powder
pinch – pepper
1/4 tsp – coriander powder
1/4 tsp – oil
pinch – garlic
1/2 tsp – coriander leaves (chopped)
1/2 cup – water ( do not add more, it will be soupy)

2 tsp – chickpea ( chana – soaked or tinned)
